Dr Andy Phillipps – Chairman
Andy Phillipps was co-founder and CEO of Active Hotels, now the largest on-line hotel booking company in Europe. The company was recognised as the fastest growing technology company in the UK by Deloitte, and Andy won Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year. He sold the business for $161 million in 2004, realising 1600% return for investors. As well as i2O he has subsequently helped found or expand a number of start-ups, including Reevoo and Toptable. He is also Entrepreneur in Residence at INSEAD Business School and has a PhD from Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
Adam Kingdon – Managing Director
Adam Kingdon has spent the last 20 years as Managing Director of a number of SME businesses in the engineering and electronics sectors. He also has extensive international experience gained in the Middle East, South Africa, US, Germany, France, Holland and Belgium as well as the UK. He has an engineering degree from Imperial College, an MBA from INSEAD and speaks fluent French and German.
Nick Beart – Director
Nick Beart is a Director of Nemadi Advisors Limited, the London based venture capital fund, and Moyses Stevens. He was previously Finance Director in the management team which acquired, turned around and very successfully grew the Covent Garden Soup Company and Green & Black's.
Dr Stephen Bold – Director
Stephen Bold is Managing Director of Sharp Laboratories, Europe. Prior to joining Sharp, he was Director of Technology at Rolls-Royce. He has also held senior R&D positions with BP and Cookson plc. Stephen brings enormous experience in developing and commercialising technology to the board.
Andrew Burrows – Executive Director
Andrew Burrows has over 12 years experience in managing complex multi-discipline R&D teams. His previous roles include Technical Director for Bernard Olesinski Ltd, a leading yacht design consultancy, Technical Director at Seldén, a leading yacht equipment manufacturer, Technical Director of KBPA developing high performance light aircraft and Supply Chain Manager at SBCL, a global player in aircraft strcutures. He is a chartered engineer and trained as a pilot in the RAF.
Simon Isherwood – Executive Director
Prior to joining i2O, Simon Isherwood spent 12 years as Sales Director for the utilities division of Morrison plc where he increased sales from £25m pa to £500m pa. He has extensive knowledge of the water industry and has worked with most of the leading UK water companies. He has a degree in civil engineering from Birmingham University.
Stuart Trow – Director
Stuart Trow is a respected international expert on water loss reduction and, in particular, pressure management. He sits on a number of international committees and has written numerous papers and books, including the main text book on reducing leakage in distribution systems. He has started and built up a successful water loss consultancy which he has since sold. Before that he worked for Northumbrian Water where he was responsible for all technical aspects of water distribution.
Christophe Jungels-Winkler – Director*
Christophe Jungels-Winkler is co-founder and a Partner of Swarraton Partners. Prior to co-founding Swarraton, Christophe was at IP Group plc, where he managed the secondary private financings of IP Group's portfolio companies. Previously, Christophe enjoyed a highly successful career in the British Army where he served all over the world in combat and staff roles. Throughout his career, Christophe has worked for a family investment business in Switzerland, where he is responsible for deal sourcing and management of venture capital investments.
Stephen Brooke – Director*
Stephen Brooke is co-founder and Managing Partner of Swarraton Partners. Stephen has spent his career in venture capital, working with companies across numerous industries in the UK, US and South Africa. Prior to founding Swarraton, he worked at IP Group plc, where he was Director of Business Development and on the company's main board, and Columbia University Science and Technology Ventures in New York.
