Lower capital maintenance - increased life of underground assets

As well as reducing pressure on the network, Advanced Pressure Management reduces the magnitude and frequency of variations in pressure. This in turn reduces the magnitude and frequency of stress variations in pipework, joints and fittings. Damage due to fatigue is therefore reduced and the life expectancy of the assets extended.

The reduction in burst rate through pressure management may also extend asset life and thereby reduce capital maintenance expenditure. Many water companies carry out mains replacement based on condition as defined by the number of bursts/km. If the number of bursts/km on a particular section can be reduced, that section may fall into a different category, remain in service for longer and defer capital expenditure.
